Cultural Education in the Netherlands
Le Grand Cru gives a lot of effort to culture education with her foreign partners in the Netherlands. Especially because she often works with youngsters from foreign countries. Le Grand Cru organises extensive workshops and teaching programmes for schools around her international performances. Both content wise, with talks about specific country bounded theme's, as with physical workshops with dance vocabulary from other cultures under the management of foreign dancers and choreographers. Meet and Greets are regularly organised for secondary education after a performance. Le Grand Cru explicitly creates understanding for other cultures in the Netherlands. Given the situation of other life conditions and other views by foreign youngsters, exchange meetings generate very positive results for Dutch youngsters and principally for migrant youngsters. Especially in peer to peer situations the interest in the 'other ' is instructive. One could even speak of a reversed development project. Migrant youngsters often tune in easily as there is often a sense of recognition and therefore workshops are easy accessible.
Next to their own workshops Le Grand Cru officially organises and executes the education programme of the Dancing on the Edge festival.
