Intercultural training
The working method of Le Grand Cru incorporates the experience, the methodology and democratic principles of the European dance theater developed over the last 25 years. Training programs are specially focused on individual development: physical discipline and presentation, enhancement of analytical and critical ability, independency and responsibility. In the form training consist out of contemporary dance techniques, improvisation and composition. On request to be extended with a training in didactics, management and theatre techniques.
Generating quality in combination with a professional approach is an often pleasant confrontation for the participants; it brings out a surprising discovery of personal power and self activity, of strengthening personal and cultural self esteem and above all creativity in the broadest sense. Artistry and a problem solving ability go hand in hand. Professionalism and quality therefore are instruments for a respectful dialogue. After the work process training and productions become the mental and material property of the participants.
De Geus en Bijvoets have travelled many places to teach their workshops: Namibia, Cuba, Kosova, Albania, South Africa, Syria and Benin. In Benin 2008 Le Grand Cru has done a tailor made training supported by the NUFFIC, Netherlands organization for cooperation in higher education. The first time ever, a culture project has been funded under culture and development. Dance as instrument to stimulate women emancipation and access to the labor market. By means of an extensive didactic training a project has been developed with Compagnie Waló, to teach children in basic education and to incorporate a performance -Léwé- for and with children (www.assowalo.com).
