Ondulation 2010
Ondulation is the visualisation of four years of cooperation between Le Grand Cru and Compagnie Walô. Gendarme Couché made by Le Grand Cru displays a harmonic fusion of traditional and contemporary dance styles as a result of long term training in dance and composition. The movements flow naturally out of the intercultural bodies. The choreography Gendarme Couché, set on a music score by John Adams, therefore is an almost pure demonstration of this new dance vocabulary. Ondulation also comprises two short choreographies from the young makers program A Corps et à Cri: Ni libre, ni esclave by Awa Kébé, about a woman's struggle for emancipation and Le Dieu du Tonerre by Guillaume Niedjo, a rhythmic complex piece about a voodoo initiation ritual. Ondulation was presented a.o. in the Young Hearts Festival, the regional tour of the Grand Theatre in the province of Groningen and during 10 Years Le Grand Cru International at the Compagnietheater in Amsterdam.
